Gravitational Waves from Relativistic Stars
The amplitude of gravitational waves is quite tiny, although they carry enormous amount of energy. They propagate without suffering any disturbance after leaving the sources. The observation gives the direct information of the emission regions. The gravitational wave astronomy in the next century will therefore be an invaluable tool to diagnose the interior structure of the relativistic stars. ...
متن کاملElectron Acceleration in Relativistic Plasma Waves Generated by a Single Frequency Short-Pulse Laser
Experimental evidence for the acceleration of electrons in a relativistic plasma wave generated by Raman forward scattering (SRS-F) of a single-frequency short pulse laser are presented. A 1.053 pm, 600 fsec, 5 TW laser was focused into a gas jet with a peak intensity of 8x1017 W/cm2. At a plasma density of 2x1019 2 MeV electrons were detected and their appearance was correlated with the anti-S...
متن کاملGravitational waves in magnetized relativistic plasmas
We study the propagation of gravitational waves (gw) in a uniformly magnetized plasma at arbitrary angles to the magnetic field. No a priori assumptions are made about the temperature, and we consider both a plasma at rest and a plasma flowing out at ultra-relativistic velocities. In the 3+1 orthonormal tetrad description, we find that all three fundamental low-frequency plasma wave modes are e...
متن کاملGRAVITATIONAL WAVES in RELATIVISTIC THEORY of GRAVITATION
It is shown that gravitational waves do not have nonphysical “ghost” states in the Relativistic Theory of Gravitation with graviton having nonzero rest mass due to the causality condition. It was shown in [1,2] that, in linearized theory of gravitation, introducing the rest mass of graviton for a field with spins 2 and 0 leads to nonphysical “ghost states” due to spin 0 when interpreting gravit...
متن کاملGravitational lensing by gravitational waves
Gravitational lensing by gravitational wave is considered. We notice that although final and initial direction of photons coincide, displacement between final and initial trajectories occurs. This displacement is calculated analytically for the plane gravitational wave pulse. Estimations for observations are discussed.
